In collaboration with the City of Dubuque and lead design firm Saiki Design, BrandNu Design supported the revitalization of Comiskey Park through a comprehensive and culturally responsive community engagement process. Located in Dubuque’s North End Neighborhood, Comiskey Park has been transformed from an underutilized green space into a vibrant public destination shaped by the people it serves.

BrandNu Design facilitated a series of public meetings, workshops, and survey efforts designed to center community voices in the design process. These efforts created a strong foundation for Saiki Design’s vision—one that authentically reflects the needs and aspirations of North End residents. The resulting framework features basketball courts, an inclusive playground, splash pad, shade structures, and a flexible open lawn—amenities directly shaped by the ideas and input of community members.

Saiki Design’s site plan improves circulation through a new network of sidewalks connecting the neighborhood to the Bee Branch Greenway and Heritage Trail, while a future reconfigured parking area near the community building enhances access for daily park use and special events. Native seeding areas define active zones near the building while also advancing sustainability goals by supporting pollinator habitats and local ecology.

This collaboration between BrandNu Design and Saiki Design demonstrates the power of listening first, then designing spaces that truly belong to the people who use them.
