Project Completed by: Hamilton Anderson Associates.
As an employee of Hamilton Anderson Associates, Michael Ford worked on the conceptual design for the new library at Grand Valley State University addresses challenging building access and grading considerations while providing informal gathering and student spaces. With the goal of achieving a LEED Platinum rating, the site design incorporates rain gardens, cisterns for irrigation and overland water flow through sculptural rivulets that highlight the site’s innovative storm water handling as an educational tool. Universal design considerations inform the design for access to the building where steep grade changes and multi-level access points present challenges and design opportunities.
This project was completed as an employee in conjunction with a design team at Hamilton Anderson Associates.
