Competition to create a mural on an abandoned building which defines the perimeter of a neighborhood located in the City of Detroit.
Mural Vision Statement
The mural is a representation of coming together as a community to discuss both the alignments of that community and essential elements which residents love and allow to define them as a community. Each of the blocks vary in size and represent the various issues and their scale of magnitude of impact in creating a cohesive community, again, both the positive and negative impacts. An option for the community leaders is to have residents write phrases on the blocks, these phrases are things they love, things they forgive their neighbors and The City for, and the things they hope to see developed in their community. Once the installation is complete, this abstracted woven form will show that everything about a community and its residents makes the world the beautiful place it is.
